WORSSTOP 18 September 2010

After forecasts for rain on Saturday, the weather turned out a beautiful late summer almost cloudless day.

More than 20 people enjoyed the hospitality of Vicky and Sehne Connell.  It was great to see many new faces and we hope to see them again in future.

The old hands at worsstop lent a hand to initiate some newcomers to the art of stuffing boerewors.

The first step is to grind the meat.
Then mix in the spices like this.
The experienced stuffers assisted the novices in the art.....while some viewed the process with interest..... and others just chatted.

Worsstop is serious business.
There is an art in rolling up the sausage as it is stuffed.
Making sure there is sufficient to last the whole winter.
After production comes the packaging of the boerewors in plastic bags.
Quality control is the next step in the process.  Braaiing is an art in itself.
There is nothing like boerewors braaied on coals..
And what is a braai without braaibrood?
The freshmen all graduated and enjoyed a final tete-a-tete around the fire, over the fence with an old squash partner or in a corner with new acquaintances.
A great big thanks to Vicky and Sehne for a most enjoyable afternoon.
